We finished up the cottage living room painting, and just in time furniture is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.  Unfortunately it has IMG_2617stared to snow here and the truck is coming from Richmond so its anybody guess if they will call and cancel the delivery.

Were supposed to meet with the Structural Engineer tomorrow as well to get the final drawing for the Bunkie so we can begin the process of getting bids.

This is a bad year for old man winter to rear his ugly head when we are attempting to get so many thing completed over the winter.

I’m calling the Kitchen done for 2014, well almost

While there is always a punch list and a few more items to be done (glass in three cabinet doors and painting the cabinets, Pat experimenting with color vs. glaze, it’s functional and ready for more great meals.

The room sports a new dry wall ceiling and new 2 ¼ inch bed moulding at the top. 9 new LED pot lights were added.  We installed subway tiles on the west wall, bead board, which we painted white on the east wall, changed out old dirty outlets and added GFI protection on the west wall outlets, install granite counter tops on the west side, the east side will get a different material, not sure as of this post.  The floor has been covered with a barn board waterproof LVT with a cork backing.   Several of the cabinets were replaced with stainless steel shelves with a building pot rack making for a both useful and decorator touch.  HGTV eat your heart out!

We also replaced electric stove and recycled to my daughters rental house and add a new dish washer and range hood.  The tug of war continues between Pat and about the refrigerator, she wants a french door counter depth and I want to leave it inlace until we do the east side of kitchen or it fails.  It’s making some strange noises so she’s hopeful.

The dining area has new chairs and is awaiting the banquet wich will be covered in teal faux leather with purple welting and the chandelier will be repaired purple as well.  Paint chips are swirling around as Pat tried to select a color for the room

Painting to begin 2/17/2015

Were beginning to paint the common spaces and the kitchen next week.  As part of the decoration we will mount the flat screen TV on the wall in the Living Room and discard the base of the huge cabinet left behind by Mrs Thomas.

While Pat continues to work on the chairs, buffing off the way that she applied over the finish on Monday,  for the kitchen eating area, I have embarked on a new project of building two stool or benches for the living room.  These are constructed

from oak and the interesting aspect is the the wood was recycled from our existing house and was what at one time panned our den.  Pat still has to decide on the fabric and of course an additional trip to Foam-to-size and then a red oak finish.  There still remains several sanding and the use of some pour-o-pack to fill the grain prior to several coat of poly.

Morgan has a new Door

Sunday morning before departure to Richmond we decided to install Morgan’s new dog door.  We have determined that she has now adapted to the environment and can come and go as necessary without fear of her wandering too far afield.
