Well it been a while since I posted. This is a brief update to show the the kitchen is finally done, functional and producing some outstanding meals.
We had Thanks giving here is year three children (Mike, Chris and Melissa) including Michele and Lorrie and the 8 grandchildren. We had eight at the main table, 4 at the island and three at the breakfast table. Some of the playful features included is the pantry door and the pop-up outlet in the island.
Yesterday Stuart from Noblett Appliance & Propane came with his helper to install the Range Hood Vent system, composed of the interior stainless steel hood and the exterior blower.
Today the rest of the appliances reinstalled, including the ASKO Dishwasher.

We hope to be in by my 70th. birthday (September 30, 2017) after missing Pat’s birthday and Labor Day?
This weekend Pat finished her project or glazing the cabinets, and she did a great job. Stand up and take a bow.
Saturday we (Pat) finished the glaze while I did some communications work and tidied up some previous projects. I also reinstalled all of the hinges on the doors and the drawer pulls and knows on the cabinet doors.
Cabinet doors with glass installed
Sunday after coffee and breakfast we began the process of reinstalling the doors, starting with the 3 doors where I installed glass, then on to the other 12 doors and 15 drawer fronts, by lunch we were done.
Next was to install the wine rack fabricated in Richmond, which need a bit of modification because I failed to measure the cabinet and wall distance from top to bottom, it actually ran out about ¼-inch but that was an easy fix here at the Cottage.

The fixture now sports a new “sumptuous purple” coat of paint.
The original bamboo looking light fixture who home was in the master bed room when we purchased the house was moved to the dining area in the kitchen. We it has taken on a new look and will be reinstalled in the kitchen.
We continue to to make great progress at the Cottage. We survived a snow storm that delivered an additional 7 inches of snow while we were painting and doing other renovation touches.
Before the snow can we were able to take delivery on the furniture for the

We also came up with the idea of paining the cheap gold looking kitchen hardware in a pewter finish — we will see how it survives, this was a $6 expense vs about $60 for new hardware.
While there is always a punch list and a few more items to be done (glass in three cabinet doors and painting the cabinets, Pat experimenting with color vs. glaze, it’s functional and ready for more great meals.
Kitchen 95% complete
The room sports a new dry wall ceiling and new 2 ¼ inch bed moulding at the top. 9 new LED pot lights were added. We installed subway tiles on the west wall, bead board, which we painted white on the east wall, changed out old dirty outlets and added GFI protection on the west wall outlets, install granite counter tops on the west side, the east side will get a different material, not sure as of this post. The floor has been covered with a barn board waterproof LVT with a cork backing. Several of the cabinets were replaced with stainless steel shelves with a building pot rack making for a both useful and decorator touch. HGTV eat your heart out!

We also replaced electric stove and recycled to my daughters rental house and add a new dish washer and range hood. The tug of war continues between Pat and about the refrigerator, she wants a french door counter depth and I want to leave it inlace until we do the east side of kitchen or it fails. It’s making some strange noises so she’s hopeful.
The dining area has new chairs and is awaiting the banquet wich will be covered in teal faux leather with purple welting and the chandelier will be repaired purple as well. Paint chips are swirling around as Pat tried to select a color for the room
We finished up the Hardi Backer board today and rehung to of the cabinets in the kitchen We also added a piece of Bead Board on the wall with the arched entry to the living room. We moved all of the furniture from the living room, actually just the gas fireplace and the guest room to the master bedroom and Rivah room in preparation for the floor refinishers who are due at 0830.
Floors after staining and sealing, tomorrow the first coat of Bona Traffic satin finish.
