Here is sneak peek at the new table for the living room, that are made from oak and will be finished with a red oak stain.

This weekend Pat finished her project or glazing the cabinets, and she did a great job. Stand up and take a bow.
Saturday we (Pat) finished the glaze while I did some communications work and tidied up some previous projects. I also reinstalled all of the hinges on the doors and the drawer pulls and knows on the cabinet doors.
Sunday after coffee and breakfast we began the process of reinstalling the doors, starting with the 3 doors where I installed glass, then on to the other 12 doors and 15 drawer fronts, by lunch we were done.
Next was to install the wine rack fabricated in Richmond, which need a bit of modification because I failed to measure the cabinet and wall distance from top to bottom, it actually ran out about ¼-inch but that was an easy fix here at the Cottage.
While Pat continues to work on the chairs, buffing off the way that she applied over the finish on Monday, for the kitchen eating area, I have embarked on a new project of building two stool or benches for the living room. These are constructed
from oak and the interesting aspect is the the wood was recycled from our existing house and was what at one time panned our den. Pat still has to decide on the fabric and of course an additional trip to Foam-to-size and then a red oak finish. There still remains several sanding and the use of some pour-o-pack to fill the grain prior to several coat of poly.
We purchased 6 chairs at auction for the Rivah house dining area in the kitchen and we are in the process of rehabbing the chairs. Chairs were striped of their previous 3 layers of fabric and old batting and new foam and batting will be applied
and we are recovering the seats with fabric on hand. We have cleaned and re glued the frames and applied a first coat of chalk paint to the frames. Estimated final cost for each chair $75.
Notice the crab like pattern on the back of the chairs, how appropriate. For the Rivah house.
In order to keep the start up costs at a minimum we are building some of our furniture. Pat and I constructed a head board for our bed this past weekend. While Pat was doing the upholstery I was constructing two tables and Pat pitched in with helping to paint and finish them as well. We are slso working on a head board for the guest room and a small chest for the master bedroom.
We also added a purchased piece. Our goal is to keep the river house a very casual and a bit funky!
We also built a headboard for the guest room.
